I am really interested by your Transport plans for the London area. I saw that both the Silverlink trains and the DLR wanted to get at the Transport passage from Stratford to Woolich. Then I had a brainwave: To save money, couldn't the DLR take over the S
lverlink tracks all the way from Stratford to North Woolwich? If they could then with the extra money they could easily extend the Silverlink through to Woolwich. Is this idea feasable?

I have been collecting underground maps from arund the woeld for several years now. I live next door to where the founding father and original designer of the London Underground map, lived, Harry Beck, in Courthouse Road, North Finchley, N12.
I collect all variants of tube maps from all over the globe(mainly helped by travelling friends) and you will see that, with only few exceptions, they all follow Harry's orginal concept design.
I have posters, too, LU paraphernalia, mugs and suchlike (even a pair of boxer shorts with the underground map!). One of my prized possions is a t-short from Moscow with the Moscow underground map on it. I also have some very old maps, dating back to 1939
I have spent all my life near to, or living in a house backing onto, the London Underground (as I do now, Northern Line, West Finchley station is round the corner).
You simply MUST read the book about Harry Beck, "Mr Beck's Underground Map" by Ken Garland (ISBN 9781854141682", it is the seminal definitive book on intelligent, lateral thinking design (see how he incorporated the Victoria line as a perfectly straight l
ne in his orginal approach, by just moving orginal tube lines slightly).
The book ponders on Harry's frustration, until his death,(in the mid 70s) how London Transport never officially acknowledged his copyright or contribution. A Blue Plaque was put up at Finchley Central Station 2 - 3 year's ago, together with a replica of
is orginal map. Too little, too late, and probably more as a result of LT's guilt over the affair.
