do not bend.

the river seems to have its own psychic dead zone

follow the river from it source into the city. it carves a great swathe of marshland, laughingly reclaimed as park, as if they wanted to leave all that space rather than build on it.

the waterworks continue on one side as the park gets broken up by a beaten up industrial estate, but this is a cop out as much as the parkland- these are the shops noone visits, the other side gaining some council flats. this is almost as good as it gets.

loop through the city, past more waterworks, the b&q, the building site, the exclusive flats, and the student halls, the nsad and some more housing. the best bit.

then you get the broken buildings past fye bridge street. then the courtroom and jarrolds. more parks. the ring road. the station. the development site. (a cinema? next year? really.) downwards towards the stadium, from whence it fades into marsh.

then it stops being the wensum and the kids can get bored on a boat for twenty miles. yarmouth. the end of the line.
