Table service: a short rant

In the UK, getting beer is simple. You enter a pub, and go up to the bar, and ask someone to give you a beer. You give them some money, and they give you some change. In larger groups, you either use the rounds system (I bought you one, you'll get me one eventually) or the kitty (everyone chucks in a tenner or so, and drinks flow freely) to make things a little easier.

Waiting for a bus to the West End near St Paul's Cathedral, an open-top double decker rolled along on the number 23 route. This is odd. Open-top buses are usually reserved for eye-wateringly expensive guided tours. However, it's a standard bus number, and the conductor was happy to let me on. Cue a very pleasant ride down Fleet Street and the Strand, wind (intermittently) in my hair and sun (except when shaded) in my eyes, looking at the varying building styles along the way.

Glastonbury 2003 in bits

This weekend I was at the festival for the first time in almost a decade. I'd been worried both at leaving behind technology and at how I'd cope with tents (especially if it rained). While I did have a bit of trouble with the weather, and I missed some of the communication that IRC and email affords, it was actually a good weekend. Here's the distilled version of my weekend.
